Apply for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) with ADAK
Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya · sources read 4 Oct 2026
If your treatment needs a substance or method on WADA's Prohibited List, apply to ADAK for a TUE before using it, on ADAMS or by emailing the signed form and your medical file to tue@adak.or.ke. For substances banned only in competition, apply at least 30 days before your next event.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on WADA's ADAMS, or by email to tue@adak.or.ke. ADAK offices: Parklands Plaza, Chiromo Road, Westlands, Nairobi
What you need
- ADAK TUE Application Form, completed in capital letters or typed, and signed
- Full medical history, with documents from the doctor who first diagnosed you where possible
- Results of all relevant examinations, lab tests and scans
Steps
- Tell your doctor you are an athlete, and check together whether your medicine or treatment is on the Prohibited List. If it is, ask about permitted alternatives first.
- Contact ADAK (tue@adak.or.ke) to confirm your competition level and what your application needs.
- Apply on ADAMS with your medical file. No ADAMS account? Email tue@adak.or.ke to have one set up.
- Or download the TUE Application Form from adak.or.ke, fill and sign it, and email it with your medical file to tue@adak.or.ke.
- Keep a full copy of everything you sent and proof that you sent it.
Watch out
- For substances banned only in competition, apply at least 30 days before your next competition.
- An ADAK TUE is valid only at national level. For international events or major games, check that your federation or the event organiser recognises it.
- Incomplete or unreadable applications are sent back, which costs you time.
Who can apply
- Athletes bound by anti-doping rules who need a prohibited substance or method for treatment
- You must have a clear diagnosed medical condition that needs the prohibited treatment (all four WADA criteria must be met)
- There must be no reasonable permitted alternative treatment
