Make the change on BRS eCitizen (brsv2.ecitizen.go.ke) from your linked business name. Changing particulars costs KSh 200 with the original certificate (KSh 400 with a copy) and takes about 3 days.

What you need
- Your business name certificate (original gets the lower fee; a copy costs more)
Steps
- Log in to BRS on eCitizen (brsv2.ecitizen.go.ke). If your business name is not on your dashboard, link it first.
- Pick the change you need: nature of business, registered address, change of name, appointing a new proprietor (partner), or removing one.
- Fill in the change (form BN 4), pay, and download your Certificate of Change of Particulars (BN 5) when approved.
Watch out
- Late changes can attract penalties on top of the fee.
- Changing the business name itself is a different charge (KSh 800, plus any penalties) and gives a Certificate of Change of Name.
- A business name is not a company. To turn it into a limited company or LLP, you close (cease) it and convert, which is a separate process.

- Owners of a registered business name whose business is linked to their eCitizen account.
