Check if an estate agent is registered, or report one
Estate Agents Registration Board · sources read 2 Oct 2026
Search the agent's name or member number on the EARB Members Directory (members.estateagentsboard.or.ke/directory) and check it says 'In good standing'. To report an agent, file a complaint on the EARB portal's Complaints page after confirming your email with a one-time code.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the EARB members portal (members.estateagentsboard.or.ke); EARB offices at Prism Towers, 3rd Ngong Avenue, Upper Hill, Nairobi, 17th floor
What you need
- To complain: your name, phone, email, ID number and postal address, the agent's details, and attachments supporting your complaint
Steps
- Open members.estateagentsboard.or.ke/directory and search by name or member number.
- Check the status shown. 'Not in good standing' means the agent does not have a current licence; be careful.
- For a company, search the firm directory at members.estateagentsboard.or.ke/directory?type=firms.
- To report an agent, open the Complaints page on the EARB portal, confirm your email with the one-time code, then fill in the complaint and attach evidence.
Watch out
- Only EARB-registered agents with a current practising certificate may work as estate agents. An unlisted agent is operating illegally.
- If an agent shows you a certificate, check it on the portal's Validate Cert page using the serial number on the top right or the QR code.
Who can apply
- Anyone about to deal with an estate agent or agency firm.
