Fee
We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
How long
About 90 working days from when PCF receives your claim
Deadline
Claim within two years of the insurer's insolvency
Where
Online on the PCF claims portal (cms.pcf.go.ke), or at PCF, KWFT Centre, 6th Floor, Masaba Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi
Go to PCF

What you need

  • Copy of your ID or passport (companies: certificate of registration/incorporation)
  • Copy of your KRA PIN certificate
  • Original discharge voucher, where you have one
  • Court judgment or award, where applicable
  • Letter of administration, if claiming for someone who has died
  • Copy of the police abstract, where applicable

Steps

  1. Confirm your insurer is under statutory management or has had its licence cancelled. If it is still running normally, complain to IRA instead.
  2. Create an account on the PCF claims portal (cms.pcf.go.ke) using your ID number.
  3. Fill in the compensation claim form, attach your supporting documents and submit. Be fully honest: PCF can reject a claim that hides material facts.
  4. Track your claim on the same portal.

Watch out

  • PCF pays at most KSh 250,000 per claim. Any balance goes to the Official Receiver and is paid, if at all, from the liquidation proceeds.
  • Claims made more than two years after the insolvency are not paid, even in exceptional cases.
  • Not covered: reinsurance, retirement (superannuation) schemes run by an insurer, and claims from before 2005.

Who can apply

  • Claimants of an insurer under statutory management or whose licence was cancelled
  • The policy must be a Kenyan policy
  • Life insurance beneficiaries qualify too
