Executive Office of the President and Government Ministries · sources read 12 Oct 2026
The current Cabinet Secretaries and their portfolios are listed on the Cabinet page of president.go.ke. For a Principal Secretary, open the ministry's own website and look under Leadership (each State Department is run by a PS).
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online: president.go.ke (The Cabinet and Ministries pages) and each ministry's own .go.ke website. Office of the President: 020 2227436
Steps
- For a Cabinet Secretary, open The Cabinet page on president.go.ke. It lists each Cabinet member with their ministry.
- Not sure of the ministry's exact name? The Ministries page on president.go.ke lists all current ministries.
- For a Principal Secretary, open the ministry's own .go.ke website and find its Leadership page (for example 'MoH Leadership' on health.go.ke). Ministries with several State Departments have one PS for each.
- Still unsure? Call the Office of the President on 020 2227436.
Watch out
- Office holders change: the President can move a PS to another State Department, and Cabinet reshuffles happen. Always check the official page on the day you need it.
- Some ministries have a separate leadership page per State Department. For example transport.go.ke has 'SDT Leadership' (Transport) and 'SDR Leadership' (Roads).
- Cabinet Secretaries are nominated by the President and appointed with the approval of the National Assembly. A Cabinet Secretary cannot be an MP.
- Principal Secretaries are nominated by the President from people recommended by the Public Service Commission, and appointed with the approval of the National Assembly.
- The Constitution allows between 14 and 22 Cabinet Secretaries.
Who can apply
- Anyone can check. Ministries are run by a Cabinet Secretary, and each State Department within a ministry is run by a Principal Secretary.
