Nakuru County charges a yearly fee for a fire certificate of inspection for shops, offices, supermarkets and go-downs, based on floor size and zone. In Nakuru town and Naivasha it ranges from KSh 1,000 to KSh 10,000; in other sub-counties from KSh 500 to KSh 3,000.

Steps
- Find your zone. Zone A is Nakuru East and West, Zone B is Naivasha; Zones C and D are the other sub-counties.
- Ask the county Fire and Rescue service for a certificate of inspection for your premises. The fee depends on your floor area in square feet.
- Pay only through official county channels: mobile money, bank, bank agent, county card or direct transfer.
Watch out
- The fee is charged per year, so renew the certificate every year.
- Factories and industrial premises pay higher rates: KSh 5,000 to KSh 10,000 a year depending on size.
