Get building plans approved by Makueni County

Your architect or other registered professional submits the plans online on Ardhi Makueni (eDAMS). Approval is charged by plinth area, for example KSh 6 per square foot for a house, plus KSh 8,000 per floor for structural plans.

- Property rate payment receipts
- Survey plan, RIM or beacon certificate
Steps
- Hire a registered architect, planner or structural engineer. They submit your plans on the Ardhi Makueni eDAMS portal.
- Upload your land ownership documents, land rates receipts and survey plan, RIM or beacon certificate.
- Pay the application form fee (KSh 1,500) and the approval fee by plinth area: KSh 6 per sq ft for a house, so a 1,000 sq ft house is KSh 6,000.
- Track the application on your eDAMS dashboard. You get SMS or email alerts at each stage and when it is approved or rejected.
- During construction pay for inspections (KSh 1,000 a visit); at the end get a certificate of occupation (KSh 1,500).
Watch out
- Building without plan approval carries a KSh 10,000 fine for each incident.
- If an approved plan is not built, renewing the approval costs KSh 5,000.
