Join the National Police Service as a police constable
National Police Service Commission · sources read 30 Sep 2026
The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) recruits constables only when it advertises. When it does, fill the official application form and show up at your constituency's recruitment centre on the day with your original documents. It's free: never pay anyone.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- At the designated recruitment centre in your constituency, on the date in the official NPSC advert
What you need
- Academic certificates and testimonials (originals and copies)
- Kenyan national ID card (original and copy)
- Birth certificate (original and copy)
- If you did NYS: your NYS discharge certificate, with conduct rated at least 'Good'
Steps
- Wait for the official NPSC advert for police constables on npsc.go.ke, then apply once the vacancies are out.
- Download and fill the official application form from npsc.go.ke or another official police website, or fill it at prs.npsc.go.ke. You can also get the form at a Huduma Centre.
- On recruitment day, go to the recruitment centre in your constituency with your originals and copies of the documents listed.
- Your original documents are handed back to you before you leave the centre.
Watch out
- Recruitment is free and open to everyone who qualifies. Bribing anyone to influence it is a crime, so never pay for a "slot".
- If someone asks you for money, report it at the nearest police station or call 0709 099 000, 999, 911, 112 or FichuakwaDCI on 0800 722 203.
- The 2025 constable recruitment was put on hold by a court order in October 2025. Check npsc.go.ke for any update before planning to go.
