Pay Kirinyaga land rates online on the county's Kiripay e-pay portal (epay.kirinyaga.go.ke) or get a bill at a county revenue office, then pay by M-Pesa or at Equity, Co-op or KCB bank.

- Rates are charged every year. The county must announce the payment date in the Kenya Gazette at least 60 days ahead.

- Want the county to reduce or cancel your rates (remission)? Apply before the rates are due or within 14 days after.

- Go to epay.kirinyaga.go.ke, the county's Kiripay portal, and pick property rates to get your bill.
- Prefer to go in person? Get a bill at a revenue office in Kerugoya, Wanguru, Kianyaga, Baricho, Sagana or the county HQ in Kutus.
- Pay the bill by M-Pesa or at Equity, Co-op or KCB bank.
- Need proof you've paid (for a sale or transfer)? Ask for a rates clearance certificate. It costs KSh 1,000 per plot.
Watch out
- If you get a written demand for unpaid rates, you have 60 days to pay before the county can act.
- Rates left unpaid after a demand can end with the county auctioning the property.
- The county USSD code *396# is for parking, cess and matatu stickers. Use the e-pay portal or a revenue office for land rates.
Who can apply
- Owners of land in Kirinyaga County: the person the property is registered to
- Holders of leases with 21 years or more left
- In some cases the person occupying the property is the one who pays
