Pay Kisii County land rates

Kisii County land rates are 1% of your land's value each year. Pay the county through an official channel, such as its Revenue Self-service portal, and keep the receipt. A rates clearance certificate costs KSh 3,000.

- Rates are charged every year. The county must announce the payment date in the Kenya Gazette at least 60 days ahead.

Steps
- Open the county's Revenue Self-service portal (selfservice.kisii.go.ke), linked from kisii.go.ke, to pay county charges online.
- Pay only into the county's authorised bank account or its approved electronic payment platform. Never pay a person directly.
- Check that you get the correct official receipt. Under the county Finance Act, that is your job.
- Need proof your rates are fully paid, for example to sell or transfer the land? Get a clearance certificate on rates (KSh 3,000 per plot).
Watch out
- The rate is 1% of the land value per year in Kisii Municipality, Ogembo Municipality and the sub-counties alike.
- If you get a written demand for unpaid rates, you have 60 days to pay. After that the county can act, even auction the property.
Who can apply
- Owners of land or buildings in Kisii County, including holders of leases with 21 years or more left
- In some cases the person occupying the property is the one who pays
