Kenya Revenue Authority · sources read 30 Sep 2026
Made a mistake in a return you already filed? File an amended return on iTax. To change your phone, email, address or tax obligations, go to Registration, then Amend PIN details on iTax.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- How long
- Email or phone number changes: within 1 working day
- Where
- Online on iTax (itax.kra.go.ke). For help, KRA Contact Centre, a Tax Service Office or a Huduma Centre
What you need
- If KRA needs proof for a return change: P9 form from your employer
- Bank statements, where relevant
- Audited books of accounts (businesses)
Steps
- To fix a return: log in to iTax, open the Returns tab and choose File Return.
- File an amended return for the period with the mistake, with the correct figures.
- To update your details: on iTax, open the Registration menu and choose Amend PIN details. Set the mode to Online.
- Tick PIN, pick the sections you want to change (phone, email, address, obligations and so on), update them, attach any documents and submit.
Watch out
- An amendment that raises the tax you owe goes through straight away. One that lowers it must be approved by KRA before it shows.
- A new obligation (like VAT or PAYE) becomes active only after a KRA officer approves it, so add it early.
- Companies changing directors must upload the latest CR12 from the Registrar of Companies.
Who can apply
- Every registered taxpayer, individuals and organisations
