Apply for a government pool house (civil servants, Nairobi)

Fill in the Government Pool Quarter form, send it through your ministry's HR director, and hand it in at the Estates Department, NHIF Parking Complex 5th Floor, Nairobi. Houses are allocated subject to availability and by job group.

What you need
- 3 latest payslips certified by your employer's HR director (or a certified copy of your current contract)
- Copy of your national ID card
- A current passport-size photo
- Certified copies of birth certificates for the children you list
- If it applies: proof of disability or a registration card from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities
Steps
- Download the 'House Application Form (Government Pool Houses – Nairobi)' from housingandurban.go.ke and fill it in.
- Tick the house size and estate you prefer. The estates you can pick depend on your job group (lower, middle or high grades).
- Address it to the Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, and send it through your ministry's Director of Human Resource Management.
- Hand in the form with your documents at the Director Estates office, NHIF Parking Complex 5th Floor, Nairobi, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Watch out
- Your application is valid for one calendar year only, so apply again if you haven't been given a house by then.
- Houses are given subject to availability. If you have a special reason for priority, explain it on the form and attach proof.
- Any false information disqualifies you from government housing.
Who can apply
- Government officers (civil servants) looking for government rental housing in Nairobi.
- You don't qualify if you or your spouse already bought a government house, got a CSHSF loan or mortgage, were allocated a government house before, or already live in one.
