Check if a contractor is registered with NCA
National Construction Authority · sources read 2 Oct 2026
Before you hire, search the company name or registration number on NCA's 'Search Registered Contractors' page. It shows the contractor's category, county, licence status and certificate status.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on NCA's 'Search Registered Contractors' page (nca.go.ke/registered-contractors).
Steps
- Open 'Search Registered Contractors' on nca.go.ke and enter the company name or registration number.
- Check the licence status. A practising licence runs to 30 June each year, so make sure it's current.
- Check the category fits your job. For building works, NCA 8 can only take jobs up to KSh 10 million.
- To check a fundi or site supervisor, use 'Search Registered Construction workers' and search by ID number or name.
Watch out
- It's against the law to work as a contractor without NCA registration and a valid practising licence.
- Registered contractors must renew their licence every year, so a company registered years ago may no longer be licensed.
