Use the free PIN Checker on the iTax portal to confirm a KRA PIN is genuine and active. To check a Tax Compliance Certificate, use the TCC Checker on the same portal or the KRA M-Service App.

- The KRA PIN you want to check
Steps
- Go to the iTax portal (itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal) and open PIN Checker. Type the PIN and the security code shown, then submit.
- A genuine PIN is one KRA's system created and that is in Active status. The result shows only basic details of the taxpayer.
- To check a Tax Compliance Certificate, use the TCC/Exemption/Excise License Checker on the same iTax page.
- On your phone, the KRA M-Service App (Google Play and App Store) has Verify PIN details and Verify TCC details.
- No smartphone? Dial *572# and choose Validate Tax Compliance to check a TCC.
Watch out
- If iTax says your PIN is invalid but the PIN Checker shows it as valid, contact KRA or visit the nearest KRA office.
- A Tax Compliance Certificate is valid for 12 months only. Check the date, not just that it exists.
- The *572# service works on any phone, including a basic 'mulika mwizi'.
