Law Society of Kenya / Judiciary · sources read 4 Oct 2026
Search the advocate's name on the Law Society of Kenya portal (online.lsk.or.ke). It shows whether they are admitted as an advocate and hold a practising certificate for this year.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the LSK portal (online.lsk.or.ke); certificates can also be checked on the Judiciary's JAMS site
Steps
- Open online.lsk.or.ke and search for the advocate. Check that they are admitted and have a practising certificate for this year.
- If the advocate gives you their practising certificate, check it is genuine on the Judiciary's JAMS site (jams.court.go.ke/verify-certificate).
- If you have a complaint about an advocate, take it to the Advocates Complaints Commission at the Attorney General's office.
Watch out
- A practising certificate is for one year only and expires on 31 December, so check the current year.
- Practising without a valid certificate is an offence, and documents or deals handled by an advocate without one may be invalid.
Who can apply
- Anyone. The Judiciary advises members of the public to check an advocate's status before using them.
