Scratch the KEPHIS sticker label on the seed packet and SMS the hidden code to 1393. It's free, and the reply tells you if the seed is genuine.

Steps
- Check the packet: it must have the seed company's original seal and a proper label.
- Scratch the KEPHIS sticker label to reveal the code, then SMS the code to 1393. The SMS is free.
- Read the reply: it confirms whether the seed is genuine and gives details of the packed seed.
- If the seed is not genuine, call the number on the label straight away.
- You can also report it to KEPHIS on 0709 891 000.
Watch out
- Keep your receipt and the empty seed packets. They help trace the seed if there's a problem.
- Don't buy seed weighed out from opened packets. Buy from dealers who display their licence.
- KEPHIS publishes a list of registered seed companies, so you can check the company on the packet.
