Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service · sources read 3 Oct 2026
Apply on KEPHIS's PIQRS system with the right risk-assessment form; once accepted, send four hard copies of your dossier to KEPHIS. The KSTCIE committee decides after expert review.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on KEPHIS's PIQRS system, then hard copies to KEPHIS Headquarters, Oloolua Ridge, Karen, Nairobi (P.O. Box 49592-00100)
What you need
- The PIQRS application form that fits your product, with the information needed for risk assessment
- Four hard copies of the dossier (application form plus supporting annexes), after KEPHIS accepts the online form
Steps
- Pick the right application form on the Plant Import & Quarantine Regulatory System (PIQRS) and fill in the risk-assessment details.
- A KEPHIS registration officer checks the form and accepts or rejects it on PIQRS.
- If accepted, send four hard copies of the dossier to The Managing Director, KEPHIS, P.O. Box 49592-00100 Nairobi (Oloolua Ridge, Karen).
- Answer the comments from KEPHIS's scientific reviewers. A KSTCIE subcommittee then makes recommendations and the main KSTCIE committee decides.
Watch out
- KSTCIE approval is a risk assessment, not the final registration. Approved products are sent to research institutions for efficacy testing or registration.
- Mark any confidential information in the dossier clearly as 'confidential'.
- Organism not in the PIQRS search? Email KEPHIS at director@kephis.org.
Who can apply
- Anyone who wants to bring live biological control agents, bio-fertilisers, bio-stimulants, organic fertilisers or related products into Kenya.
