Check the list of KICD-approved CBC textbooks (Orange Book)
Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development · sources read 2 Oct 2026
Open KICD's 'Approved CBC Course Materials' page and check the Orange Book list for your grade: one covers PP1, PP2 and Grades 1-9, another covers Grade 10 by pathway. If a book isn't on the list, KICD hasn't approved it as a course book.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the KICD website (kicd.ac.ke)
Steps
- Go to kicd.ac.ke, then CBC Materials > Approved CBC Course Materials.
- For PP1, PP2 or Grades 1 to 9, open the Orange Book addendum for those classes and go to your child's grade.
- For Grade 10, open the Grade 10 list. Books are grouped by pathway, then by learning area.
- Match the exact title and publisher on the school's book list against the approved list before you buy.
Watch out
- Course books and complementary (extra) materials are on separate KICD lists, so check the right one.
- KICD has no branches; it is only in Nairobi. You can still contact them to order materials and agree on delivery.
Who can apply
- Anyone: parents, teachers, school heads and publishers use it to check books.
