Check your HELB loan status, disbursement and statement

Log in to the HEF Student Portal (portal.hef.co.ke) to see your application status, allocation and disbursement. Upkeep goes to your own account and you can withdraw it with *642# or the HELB Mini App on M-Pesa; download your loan statement from the HELB portal or app.

Steps
- Log in to the HEF Student Portal at portal.hef.co.ke to check your application status, allocation and disbursement.
- To withdraw upkeep by USSD, dial *642#, log in, choose Withdraw funds, then Upkeep and the amount. You get a confirmation once it reaches M-Pesa.
- Or open the M-Pesa app, go to Categories, then Education, select HELB, sign in to the HELB Mini App with your M-Pesa number and use Withdraw.
- For your loan statement, download it from the HELB portal or the HELB mobile app.
- If something is wrong, call HELB on 0711 052 000 or email ContactCentre@helb.co.ke.
Watch out
- Money is paid at the start of the semester, only after your university or college confirms you. Tuition goes to the institution; only upkeep comes to you.
- Save the SMS with your loan application serial number. It is your proof that you applied.
- HELB charges no fee to apply for a loan. Report anyone who asks you to pay.

- Students who applied for HELB/HEF scholarships and loans, and loanees who want their loan statement.
