Complain about (or compliment) how a criminal case is prosecuted (ODPP)
Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions · sources read 3 Oct 2026
Put your complaint in writing and send it to the ODPP through the Malalamishi portal (malalamishi.prosecutions.go.ke), by email to publiccomplaints@odpp.go.ke, or by letter to the head office or a county office. It's for anyone unhappy with how a case is being investigated or prosecuted, including victims, and you can track it on the portal.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the Malalamishi portal (malalamishi.prosecutions.go.ke), by email, or at ODPP House, Ragati Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi, or any ODPP county office
Steps
- Write down your complaint with as much detail as you can (case number, court, police station, what went wrong).
- Send it through the Malalamishi portal, by email to publiccomplaints@odpp.go.ke, or by letter posted or handed in at the ODPP head office or a county office. You can also call 0734 939048.
- Wait for the acknowledgement. Post and email complaints get one straight away; a hand-delivered letter is stamped 'received' on your copy.
- Follow up using Check Complaint Status on the Malalamishi portal.
Watch out
- Complaining does not pause your court case. Keep attending court unless you are told otherwise.
- Complaints about misconduct by ODPP staff go to internalcomplianceunit@odpp.go.ke.
- Want to praise good service? Send compliments to the same address, publiccomplaints@odpp.go.ke.
Who can apply
- Anyone who feels wronged by how a criminal case is being prosecuted, including victims and complainants.
- Someone charged with an offence who believes the charges are false or wrong.
- Someone who reported a crime to the police and the police did nothing.
