Diaspora remittance statistics (CBK)

CBK publishes monthly diaspora remittance inflows on its Diaspora Remittances page, in thousands of US dollars, split into North America, Europe and Rest of World. For August 2026 the total was 451,847.60 thousand USD; a country-by-country spreadsheet is linked on the same page.

Steps
- Open the Diaspora Remittances page on centralbank.go.ke. CBK collects these figures every month from banks and other authorised remittance providers.
- Read the table by year and month: North America, Europe, Rest of World and Total, all in USD '000.
- For figures by country (USA, UK, Germany, Saudi Arabia and others), download the 'Remittances by Source' spreadsheet linked on the page.
- For a household view (who receives, how it is used), read the 2025 Remittances Household Survey Report by KNBS, CBK and FSD Kenya.
Watch out
- The numbers are in thousands of US dollars, not shillings. 451,847.60 means about USD 451.8 million.
- The monthly data counts only money sent through formal channels such as banks and authorised remittance providers.
- The household survey uses shillings and a different period (June 2024 to May 2025), so its KSh 931.8 billion total will not match the monthly CBK table.
