ECDE teacher jobs: how counties recruit pre-primary teachers
County Public Service Boards · sources read 4 Oct 2026
Public ECDE (pre-primary) teachers are hired by your county, not TSC, because pre-primary education is a county function. Watch your County Public Service Board's adverts and apply exactly as the advert says; boards usually ask for an ECDE certificate or diploma and TSC registration.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Your county's County Public Service Board, through the county website or the board's office, as each advert says
What you need
- Certified copies of your national ID, KCSE certificate, ECDE certificate or diploma, and TSC registration certificate
- The county's employment application form, filled in
Steps
- Watch your County Public Service Board's website and notices for ECDE Teacher adverts.
- Check the requirements. Nakuru, for example, asked for KCSE D+ plus an ECDE certificate, TSC registration and a computer certificate.
- Download and fill the county's employment application form, and attach certified copies of your documents.
- Send the application the way the advert says, with the advert number on it, before the closing date.
Watch out
- TSC recruitment adverts are for primary and secondary schools. ECDE jobs in public centres come from the county.
- Never pay anyone who promises you an ECDE job. Applying is through the board only.
- Canvassing (lobbying board members or officials) can get you disqualified.
Who can apply
- Trained ECDE teachers registered with TSC. In the Nakuru example, the advert was open to qualified Kenyan citizens.
