Extend a visitor's pass or get a special pass (foreigners in Kenya)

Apply online on the eFNS portal (fns.immigration.go.ke), pay the invoice, then take your passport and printed application to the Immigration counter at Nyayo House. A visitor's pass can be extended up to a total of 6 months; the charter fee is USD 50.

What you need
- Copy of your passport bio-data page
- Copy of your previous visa endorsement
- The original and a copy of your visitor's pass
- Proof of a pending permit or pass application, if you have one
- Special pass: Form 32 filled, signed and stamped by the organisation, plus a cover letter to the Director General of Immigration Services
Steps
- Create a Government of Kenya single sign-on account and log in to eFNS (fns.immigration.go.ke).
- Fill in the application (it generates Form 22 for a visitor's pass extension) and upload your documents.
- Pay the invoice shown under Dashboard, then Payments.
- Take the printed application, your passport and the documents to the Immigration counter at Nyayo House, Nairobi. You get email updates on progress.
Watch out
- The visitor's pass extension fee is charged in US dollars: USD 50.
- A special pass costs USD 200 per month, paid after approval. Citizens of East African Community countries pay nothing.
- Fees are not refunded once paid, and incomplete applications are not accepted, so check your documents first.
Who can apply
- Foreigners in Kenya on a visitor's pass. It can be extended to a maximum of 6 months.
- Special pass: foreigners who want to stay up to 6 months to temporarily do business, trade or a profession.
