Find and bid for government tenders

First register your business on the e-GP portal (egpkenya.go.ke), because registration there is required to take part in government procurement. Then look for open tenders on tenders.go.ke and on the notices of the ministry, county or agency buying.

Steps
- Self-register your business as a supplier on the e-GP portal at egpkenya.go.ke.
- Stuck? Get registration help at the National Treasury desk in any Huduma Centre, or use the supplier registration manual on the e-GP portal.
- Look for open tenders on tenders.go.ke (PPIP), and on ministry, county and agency websites and notice boards.
- If your business is owned by youth, women or persons with disabilities, get an AGPO certificate so you can bid for reserved tenders.
Watch out
- Some tenders ask for a bid security. PPRA keeps a list of insurance companies allowed to issue one.
- If you win, a Capacity Building Levy of 0.03% of the contract value (before taxes) applies to the signed contract.
- Think a tender was handled unfairly? Bidders can complain to PPRA through cms.ppra.go.ke or info@ppra.go.ke.
Who can apply
- Suppliers, contractors and consultants registered on the e-GP portal.
- Businesses owned by youth, women or persons with disabilities can also compete for the 30% of opportunities set aside for them, with an AGPO certificate.
