Get a nutrition training institution or CPD provider accredited by KNDI

Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute · sources read 3 Oct 2026

A college that trains (or plans to train) in nutrition and dietetics must first get an interim licence from KNDI, then invite KNDI for a full inspection against its 11 standards. CPD providers apply to KNDI's accreditation committee; a local conference costs KSh 55,000 in total.

What you need

  • Completed KNDI interim licence application form (on the Downloads page)
  • A copy of your existing curriculum, where you have one
  • For the full licence: a written application stating the proposed inspection date, plus the full inspection fee

Steps

  1. Fill in KNDI's interim licence form and send it with a copy of your curriculum and the interim fee.
  2. Use the interim licence (usually one calendar year) to meet KNDI's standards. KNDI shares its core curriculum guidelines only with interim licence holders.
  3. Apply in writing for the full licence, propose an inspection date and time, and pay the full inspection fee.
  4. KNDI's team inspects you against 11 standards. The written report follows within two weeks, and the full licence is awarded if you comply.
  5. CPD providers: send a proposal with your scope to KNDI's accreditation committee. Costs for classes B to E are set case by case and communicated to you.

Watch out

  • The licence is site-specific. A new campus or college is treated as a separate institution and needs its own licence and inspection.
  • You must renew with a full re-inspection every 4 years, at the same rates.
  • Training or examining in nutrition and dietetics without KNDI approval is an offence with a fine of at least KSh 500,000, or jail.

Who can apply

  • Any institution training, or planning to train, in nutrition and dietetics at certificate, diploma or degree level.
  • CPD providers: conference organisers, training institutions, organisations and companies, individual providers and research organisations.
