Get accredited as an election observer (IEBC)

Election observers are accredited as organisations, online on IEBC's Accreditation Management System (ams.iebc.or.ke), whenever IEBC advertises an election or by-election. For the Migwani ward by-election on 17 November 2026, apply by Friday 30 October 2026 at 5pm.

What you need
- Statement of commitment and full list of members, signed by the head of the observer mission
- The observers' pledge, signed by every observer in the group
Steps
- When IEBC advertises accreditation, apply on ams.iebc.or.ke and choose "Election Observer". You need a stable internet connection.
- The head of your mission downloads, signs the statement of commitment and the full list of members.
- Every observer in your group signs the observers' pledge.
- Hand all the signed documents to IEBC when you collect your badges. The badges let you into polling stations and the tallying centre.
Watch out
- This is not a paid job. IEBC does not pay observers.
- Accreditation is per election: each by-election has its own notice and deadline.
Who can apply
- Organisations that want to observe a specific election or by-election. IEBC invites them through a public notice each time.
