Get building plans approved by Nyamira County

Apply to Nyamira County's physical planning department for development permission before you build. Expect several fees: KSh 1,000 for the application form, KSh 1,000 for the submission certificate and KSh 100 per square metre of floor area, plus site inspection and public health plan fees.

Steps
- Get the development permission application form (PLUPA/DC/1) from the county physical planning office. It costs KSh 1,000.
- Submit your plans and pay KSh 1,000 for the submission certificate plus KSh 100 for every square metre of floor area.
- The county inspects the site: KSh 4,000 per visit in Zone A (Nyamira and Keroka municipalities), KSh 3,000 in Zone B, KSh 2,000 elsewhere.
- Pay for public health plan approval (KSh 3,000 for a single-storey house, KSh 4,000 multi-storey). The Act also lists a public works plan fee (KSh 3,000 for a bungalow) and a fire plan scrutiny fee (KSh 3,000).
Watch out
- Building without approval costs you the full approval fee plus a KSh 10,000 penalty.
- If your approval expires before you build, renewing it attracts a 25% fee.
