Get building plans approved by Taita Taveta County

Apply to the county physical planning office and pay a KSh 1,000 application fee plus plan approval by floor area. For a house that is KSh 40 per square metre of plinth area in towns (KSh 30 elsewhere), plus KSh 2,500 per floor for the structural plan in towns.

Steps
- Apply to the county physical planning office and pay the KSh 1,000 application fee.
- Pay the architectural approval fee, worked out from your plinth area.
- Pay the structural approval fee for each floor.
- When the building is finished, get an occupational permit from public works.
Watch out
- Building without an approved plan attracts a penalty: KSh 10,000 in towns and KSh 5,000 elsewhere.
- Changing an approved plan costs KSh 20,000 in towns (KSh 10,000 elsewhere).
