Apply for 'Liaison Services' on KFC's E-Film Shop on eCitizen (efilmshop.ecitizen.go.ke); KFC links productions with government departments. You still need a KFCB filming licence, and a foreign production must work through a registered local film agent.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on KFC's E-Film Shop on eCitizen (efilmshop.ecitizen.go.ke). KFC office: Jumuia Place, Lenana Road, Nairobi; info@filmingkenya.go.ke
Steps
- Sign in to eCitizen, open KFC's E-Film Shop (efilmshop.ecitizen.go.ke) and apply for 'Liaison Services'.
- Need local crew or talent? On the same portal, apply for access to Kenya's Creative Industry Database.
- Look through KFC's filming locations and information on kenyafilmcommission.go.ke (Film Destinations).
- Foreign production? Hire a KFCB-registered local film agent. They handle permits, customs and immigration, location scouting, crew and logistics.
- Get your filming licence from KFCB before you shoot.
Watch out
- For foreign filmmakers, the agent first gets a KFC Letter of Authorisation. Only then can the agent apply for the KFCB filming licence.
- Filming in a national park? KWS charges location fees for any project filmed there.
- Drones need approval from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
Who can apply
- Local and foreign filmmakers planning to shoot in Kenya.
