Register with NCPWD, then apply for its Albinism Support Program. Every registered person with albinism gets one bottle of sunscreen a month, plus lip balm and after-sun lotion, from selected government hospitals.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- NCPWD (online or at your NCPWD county office); sunscreen collected at selected government hospitals
What you need
- Proof of NCPWD registration
- A full photograph
- Copy of your national ID, or your guardian's ID if you are under 18
- Proof that you meet the program's ranking criteria
Steps
- If you're not yet registered, register as a person with disability with NCPWD on eCitizen.
- Apply for the Albinism Support Program through NCPWD's 'Apply for support programs' page, or ask at your NCPWD county office.
- Collect your sunscreen each month at the selected government hospital. A clinician checks your skin for signs of cancer before you go to the pharmacy.
- NCPWD also pays for a full eye check-up and glasses at EYE & U, Pacis Centre, Waiyaki Way, Westlands, Nairobi.
Watch out
- Not every hospital stocks it. Ask your NCPWD county office which hospital near you hands out the sunscreen.
- Besides one sunscreen a month, you're entitled to one lip balm a month and one after-sun lotion every two months.
- NCPWD has also bought long-sleeved T-shirts and wide-brim hats for sun protection, so ask about them.
Who can apply
- Persons with albinism registered with NCPWD (a guardian applies for a child under 18).
