Go to eCitizen

What you need

  • A formal request saying what you need (the tests, or your group size and date for a visit)
  • An eCitizen account

Steps

  1. For tide times, download the current year's tide tables (PDF) for Mombasa and secondary ports from KMFRI's tide predictions page.
  2. For lab analysis, printed tide tables or a visit, sign in to kmfri.ecitizen.go.ke and pick the service: Laboratory Analytical Services, Tide Tables or Educational Visits.
  3. Fill in the application, pay with mobile money and print the document you get.
  4. For a school or group visit, apply at least 2 weeks before the day you want to come.

Watch out

  • Lab tests are charged per parameter, so the bill grows with each thing you test. Microbiology results take about 3 days.
  • Groups over 100 pay KSh 50 per person instead of a flat daily fee.
  • The tables cover Mombasa (Kilindini Harbour) and secondary ports along the coast. They are published once a year.

Who can apply

  • Anyone with an eCitizen account can apply for KMFRI services.
