Download Machakos County's New Single Business Permit form, fill it and send it to the county revenue team (by WhatsApp on 0791333809 or email). Officers inspect your premises, approve and invoice you, then you pay. A small shop pays KSh 4,250 a year in Machakos Town, Athi River, Mlolongo and Syokimau.

Steps
- Download the New Single Business Permit application form from the Machakos County website and fill it in fully.
- Send the filled form to the county revenue team by WhatsApp (0791333809) or by email.
- County officers come to inspect your premises and business location to verify it.
- The county office approves your business and sends you an invoice for the permit.
- Pay the invoice through the county's approved payment method.
Watch out
- If you haven't paid by 30 March, the county adds a 25% penalty, plus 3% interest a month on the permit fee.
- Starting a business after March? The fee is cut down in proportion to the months left before the permit expires.
- Trading without a licence can mean a fine of up to KSh 20,000, up to six weeks in jail, or both.
