Get or renew a Nairobi County Unified Business Permit (UBP)

Apply or renew online on the NairobiPay portal (nairobiservices.go.ke): make a service application, wait for the county to approve it, pay the invoice, then download your permit. The Unified Business Permit replaces the old single business permit plus fire, food, health and advertising licences.

Steps
- Create an account on the NairobiPay portal (nairobiservices.go.ke) or the Nairobi eServices Android app, then log in.
- Make a service application for your business. The county (NCCG) reviews and approves it.
- Download the invoice and pay it by M-Pesa Paybill 6060047 (account number = your invoice number) or into the county's Equity or Sidian Bank revenue account. No cash.
- Download your receipt, then download your permit once it is issued.
- Need help? Go to a county Customer Service Centre (City Hall Annex, Makadara, Kibra or Eastleigh Huduma Centre, Dandora or Ruai) or call 0730 047 047.
Watch out
- Renewal is mandatory. Running a business without a valid permit can cost a fine of up to KSh 50,000, up to 3 months in jail, or both.
- The county does not take cash. Never hand cash to anyone claiming to be a revenue officer; pay only through the official Paybill or bank accounts.
- County officers are inspecting permits in all 17 sub-counties and charging top-ups where a business paid too little, so pick the right business category when you apply.
Who can apply
- Any business operating in Nairobi City County. One permit now covers the business permit and the fire, food, health and advertising licences.
