Get PPB approval to advertise or promote a medicine or health product

Apply to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board on its PRIMS portal (prims.pharmacyboardkenya.org) with a filled application and the advert artwork or sample. The fee is KSh 5,000 per product for each medium (TV, radio, print and so on), and PPB aims to decide within 30 days.

What you need
- A filled application form
- Samples or artwork of the advert
Steps
- Create an account or sign in on PPB's online services portal, PRIMS (prims.pharmacyboardkenya.org).
- Apply under Product Advertisements and Promotions and upload the advert artwork or sample.
- Pay KSh 5,000 for each product in each medium you plan to use.
- PPB's Medicines Information Unit reviews the material and approves it or asks for changes. Questions: mi@ppb.go.ke.
Watch out
- 'Advertisement' is broad: it includes labels, wrappers, circulars and radio or TV announcements.
- Adverts must match the product's approved product information.
- PPB flags adverts for unregistered medicines and adverts it hasn't approved as a public safety threat, so get approval before the advert runs.
Who can apply
- Anyone advertising or promoting a health product in Kenya: conventional, alternative, human and veterinary medicines, and medical devices.
