Get rehabilitation support for street families (SFRTF)

Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund, State Department for Children Services · sources read 4 Oct 2026

SFRTF does not run its own shelters: it funds partner rehabilitation centres, children's homes, community and faith groups and NGOs in all 47 counties. Contact SFRTF on ceo.sfrtf@childrenservices.go.ke for help; organisations that rehabilitate street families can apply for its yearly grant.

What you need

  • Organisations: the SFRTF Request for Grant Form, filled in as part of your full proposal
  • The form signed and stamped by the County Commissioner, County Coordinator Children Services or County Coordinator Social Development
  • Qualifications and Certificates of Good Conduct for all staff, and references from your partners

Steps

  1. To get help for someone living on the street, contact SFRTF (ceo.sfrtf@childrenservices.go.ke, 020 2729800). It works through partner institutions in every county.
  2. Organisations: watch the daily newspapers for SFRTF's call for proposals.
  3. Download the Request for Grant Form from sfrtf.go.ke (Resources, Downloads), fill it in, have it stamped by a county officer and send it with your proposal.
  4. If you are shortlisted, SFRTF visits your organisation and checks with your partners before choosing.

Watch out

  • Grants to partner organisations are given once a year.
  • The grant form is not complete without the county officer's signature and stamp.

Who can apply

  • Street-connected people: children, youth, men, women and older persons, including persons with disabilities.
  • For grants: children's homes (CCIs), rehabilitation centres, community-based and faith-based organisations and NGOs that rehabilitate street families.
