What you need

  • A written application to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS)

Steps

  1. Write an application to the OCS at your local police station saying what you need officers for, where and for how long.
  2. Fill in the application for "Hire of Police Security Services" on the NPS eCitizen portal (nps.ecitizen.go.ke).
  3. If you need officers for more than three months, apply to the respective Service Headquarters instead.
  4. Sign the agreement and pay the charges. Officers are released to your premises or event only after that.

Watch out

  • The police decide how many officers you get and for how long, and can turn the request down.
  • To stop the service early, give the Deputy Inspector-General one month's notice.
  • You aren't charged for officers outside your venue who are preventing crime or directing traffic on public roads.

Who can apply

  • Any person or organisation. The Inspector-General may station officers on application by anyone.
  • Officers are deployed for private use only to protect the public good or interest.
