Industrial attachment through NITA, and the training levy for employers

Students apply for attachment on NITA's ITAP portal and their college verifies them; placement usually takes about a week. Employers register with NITA as levy payers and pay KSh 50 per employee every month, which lets them claim attachment grants and training refunds.

What you need
- Employers: completed Form 1 (from the NITA website), plus copies of your registration certificate and KRA PIN
- Employers paying the levy: Form 2 with proof of payment, such as a bank slip
Steps
- Students: apply for attachment on NITA's Industrial Training Attachment Portal (ITAP).
- Your university or college must verify your application before you can be placed.
- Employers: register as a training levy payer by sending Form 1 with your registration certificate and KRA PIN to the nearest NITA office or by official email.
- Pay KSh 50 per employee by the last working day of each month: M-Pesa Paybill 522331 with your NITA registration number as the account, or by bank deposit or banker's cheque.
- Employers who host students: claim the attachment grant after the attachment ends by sending NITA the student's assessment form.
Watch out
- The levy is paid by the employer. It is not a deduction from workers' pay.
- NITA does not accept cash for the levy. Always get an official receipt.
- If you stop being an employer, tell NITA in writing within 30 days and give the reason.

- Students of universities and other tertiary colleges who need workplace training
- All employers operating in Kenya must register as training levy payers
