Register a building or construction site with DOSHS

Within 7 days of starting building or engineering construction work, the contractor must send the area DOSHS office form DOSH 25A, a self-assessment, a safety supervisor appointment (DOSH 30) and a KSh 5,000 bank slip for the registration fee and OSH levy. Renew every year with DOSH 25B.

What you need
- Form DOSH 25A (notification and application for registration), filled in duplicate
- A self-assessment form and form DOSH 30 (appointment of the site safety supervisor)
- Bank slip for the KSh 5,000 OSH levy and registration fee, in the contractor's name
Steps
- Download form DOSH 25A from labour.go.ke/forms and fill it in duplicate, with the site, the number of workers and the type of works.
- Appoint a competent safety supervisor and fill form DOSH 30. Copy it to the area Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
- Pay the KSh 5,000 OSH levy and registration fee at the bank in the contractor's name, and attach the slip and the self-assessment form.
- Hand everything to the area Occupational Safety and Health Officer no later than 7 days after work starts.
- Renew every year with form DOSH 25B, the site self-assessment (DOSH/BCR/34), a new DOSH 30 if the supervisor changed, and the KSh 5,000 slip.
Watch out
- Running a site without renewing the certificate every year is an offence.
- At renewal, send a new DOSH 30 if the site safety supervisor has changed since last year.
Who can apply
- Contractors (main contractor or sub-contractor) doing building operations or works of engineering construction.
- Not needed for works you reasonably expect to finish in under six weeks.
