Where
In person at an IEBC constituency office, a Huduma Centre or the IEBC Customer Experience Centre (Anniversary Towers, Nairobi); transfers only at constituency offices; check online at verify.iebc.or.ke
Go to IEBC

What you need

  • Your original national ID card or a valid Kenyan passport (a copy is not enough)

Steps

  1. Go to any of the 290 IEBC constituency offices, a Huduma Centre, or the IEBC Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers, Nairobi, during working hours.
  2. Show your original ID or passport to the registration officer and fill in the Application for Registration form (Form A).
  3. Keep the acknowledgement slip you are given. You don't need it to vote, but it has your details.
  4. Already registered and want to vote somewhere else? Go to the IEBC constituency office where you want to transfer to. You give your fingerprints again there.
  5. Check your registration and polling details on the IEBC Voter Verification Portal (verify.iebc.or.ke) with your ID or passport number and year of birth.

Watch out

  • Register only once. Registering more than once is an offence (fine up to KSh 1,000,000, up to a year in jail, or both).
  • If you last registered before 2012 and never registered again, you are not on the current register. Register afresh.
  • Transfers are done only at IEBC constituency offices, and you won't get a new slip for a transfer because your details are already in the register.

Who can apply

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • Kenyan citizens who have a national ID card or a valid Kenyan passport.
