Sit, re-sit or defer the KMLTTB registration exam

Fill the exam part of form KMLTTB/APL/01, attach your documents and book the May or November series. If you miss the exam for a medical, psychological or compassionate reason, apply to defer it on kmlttb.org/examdefer.

- Where
- Download the form from kmlttb.org and submit it to KMLTTB (ACK Garden House, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi). Deferment is online at kmlttb.org/examdefer.
What you need
- Certified KCSE (or equivalent) certificate
- Certified professional certificates and transcripts from a KMLTTB-approved college or university
- Copy of your national ID or passport
- Your KMLTTB student index card
- Practical rotation completion report from a class D or higher lab (at least 3 months)
- Passport-size photo
Steps
- Download form KMLTTB/APL/01 from kmlttb.org and fill the exam page: tick the full exam, or list the papers you are re-sitting.
- Choose the exam series you want: May or November.
- Submit with your documents. KMLTTB gives you an exam card with your number, or tells you why it rejected the application.
- On exam day, be at the venue 30 minutes early with your ID.
- Missed it for a genuine reason? Apply to defer on kmlttb.org/examdefer, choosing medical, psychological or compassionate, and upload a medical report if it's medical.
Watch out
- You must pass every core paper at 50%. Failing 4 or more papers, or the practical, means re-sitting the whole exam, and it's up to you to apply for the re-sit.
- Unhappy with a result? Ask for a remark within 14 days of release using form KMLTTB/APL/03 and pay the fee. The remark result is final.
- Phones, smart watches and programmable calculators stay at the front or back of the room.
Who can apply
- Students who have finished medical laboratory training at the right entry level for their course (degree, diploma).
- Candidates re-sitting failed papers use the same exam form.
