Spot and report fake government job adverts and recruitment scams
Public Service Commission · sources read 3 Oct 2026
Real Public Service Commission jobs are free: PSC does not charge for applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments, and genuine adverts are on publicservice.go.ke and psckjobs.go.ke. If anyone asks you for money, it's a scam; report it to PSC or the DCI.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Report to the Public Service Commission (reportcorruption@publicservice.go.ke, 0795909266) or to the DCI (0800 722 203)
Steps
- Check the job on the official sites: publicservice.go.ke or the jobs portal psckjobs.go.ke. PSC applications are made online there.
- Refuse any request for money. PSC never charges for job applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments.
- Know how PSC really contacts people: shortlisted candidates hear by phone, email and the PSC website. You can also check your status on the portal with your ID number.
- Report the fraudster to PSC: email reportcorruption@publicservice.go.ke or call 0795909266.
- If you lost money, also report to the DCI on the toll-free line 0800 722 203.
Watch out
- Fraudsters pose as PSC staff and offer shortlisting, appointment or promotion for money. That offer itself is the warning sign.
- Giving false information to PSC is a crime: up to KSh 200,000 fine, 2 years in jail, or both. Don't let an 'agent' fill in fake details for you.
