Apply for a new electricity connection (Kenya Power)

Apply at a Kenya Power office, on the MyPower app or on *977#, then pay the quotation Kenya Power sends you within 90 days. Your house must be wired by an EPRA-licensed electrician before Kenya Power connects you.

- Pay within 90 days: the quotation expires after that.

- At the new connection counter of any Kenya Power office, on the MyPower app, or by dialling *977#
What you need
- Copy of your national ID (passport for non-Kenyans, registration certificate for a company)
- Copy of your KRA PIN certificate
- A sketch map to the premises or a pin location
- Title deed or proof of land ownership, or a letter from the local administration (chief)
- Commencement of work certificate from your licensed electrical contractor
Steps
- Apply: fill the enquiry of supply form at the new connection counter of your nearest Kenya Power office, or choose 'New Supply application' on the MyPower app, or 'new connections' on *977#.
- Wait for your quotation. Kenya Power sends it by letter, email or SMS.
- Pay the quotation, for example on M-Pesa paybill 888899 using your application reference number.
- Hand in your electrician's test and completion certificates and a filled Supply Contract Form.
- Kenya Power then does the works and connects your power.
Watch out
- Use an electrician licensed by EPRA. Kenya Power needs their certificates before connecting you.
- Not sure if Last Mile covers your area? Ask your nearest Kenya Power office.
- Can't pay the full quotation? A Stima Loan needs at least a 20% deposit and lends up to KSh 200,000.
Who can apply
- Kenyans (with ID), non-Kenyans (with a passport) and registered companies.
- Last Mile: homes within 600 metres of a Last Mile transformer that need a single-phase connection.
