Where
Online on KEPROBA's Made in Kenya portal (mik.makeitkenya.go.ke)
Go to KEPROBA

What you need

  • Proof your product carries the KEBS S-mark
  • Proof of tax compliance
  • Your business registration certificates

Steps

  1. Check your product meets the criteria: at least 40% Kenyan design or transformation, mined or produced in Kenya, and key ingredients of Kenyan origin.
  2. Go to mik.makeitkenya.go.ke and click 'Register & Apply for Made In Kenya Brand Mark'.
  3. Enter your email and confirm it with the one-time code (OTP), then fill in your application.
  4. Once awarded, you can put the mark on your packaging, website, social media and adverts.

Watch out

  • No KEBS S-mark, no Made in Kenya mark. Get the S-mark first.
  • Companies that are insolvent or debarred from public procurement don't qualify.
  • Less than 51% Kenyan-owned? You can still qualify if the product itself meets the Made in Kenya criteria.

Who can apply

  • Companies with at least 51% local (Kenyan) shareholding.
  • The company must be located in Kenya.
  • Most of the company's employees (50%) must be Kenyan.
