Check if a land surveyor is licensed
Land Surveyors' Board · sources read 2 Oct 2026
Search the surveyor's name on the Land Surveyors' Board register at lsb.go.ke/register before you pay them, and check that their status for this year is Active. Only licensed surveyors (or government surveyors) may lawfully survey land.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the Land Surveyors' Board register (lsb.go.ke/register). Questions: info@lsb.go.ke
Steps
- Open the Land Surveyors' Board digital register at lsb.go.ke/register and search for the surveyor.
- Click the surveyor's name to open their profile and check this year's status.
- Go ahead only if the profile says they are active. 'Not active' means they are registered but not practising right now.
- If something is wrong, file a complaint with the Board online at lsb.go.ke/complaints or by post to P.O. Box 30046-00100, Nairobi.
Watch out
- Approved survey assistants may only work under a licensed surveyor's instructions. An assistant working alone is not allowed to sign off survey work.
- Using an unqualified person can get your survey records rejected, your land deal declared invalid, and lead to boundary disputes and money lost.
- Pretending to be a licensed surveyor is a criminal offence.
Who can apply
- Anyone: landowners, buyers, developers, advocates, lenders and county governments.
