Collect your KCSE or KCPE certificate
Kenya National Examinations Council · sources read 2 Oct 2026
KCSE and KCPE certificates go to your school (exam centre) about 8 months after the exam, so collect yours from the school head. Private candidates get theirs through the County Director of Education.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- How long
- Certificates reach schools about 8 months after the exam
- Deadline
- Report errors or a missing certificate within 30 days of certificates being released.
- Where
- At your school or exam centre (private candidates: County Director of Education's office); status checks on KNEC's QMIS
Steps
- Go to the school or exam centre where you sat the exam and ask the head for your certificate.
- If you were a private candidate, collect it from the County Director of Education's office.
- Not sure it is ready? Check its status on KNEC's QMIS at qmis.knec.ac.ke.
- If it never reached your centre or has errors, ask the school head to raise a 'recovery of certificates' query with KNEC.
Watch out
- If the certificate is lost, KNEC doesn't reprint it. You apply for a Certification Letter instead.
- Teacher college and TVET certificates are collected at KNEC by college principals, not by students.
Who can apply
- Anyone who sat KCPE or KCSE, as a school or private candidate.
