Find a Kenyan embassy or high commission abroad and its consular services
Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs · sources read 30 Sep 2026
Look up your nearest Kenyan embassy, high commission or consulate on the Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Missions list, which gives each mission's phone and email. Missions handle passports, emergency travel documents, ID cards and birth certificates for Kenyans abroad, and help Kenyans in trouble.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Where
- Online on the Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Missions list (mfa.go.ke), then at your nearest Kenyan embassy, high commission or consulate
What you need
- If someone is in distress: their full names and passport number, what happened, the employer's name and contacts, and where they can be found
- For a worker in distress: a copy of the employment contract
Steps
- Open the Diplomatic Missions page on mfa.go.ke, pick your region (Africa, America, Asia, Europe, Middle East, Oceania) and find the mission's phone and email.
- When you arrive in a new country, register with the nearest Kenyan embassy or consulate so they can help in an emergency.
- For passports, emergency travel documents, ID cards, birth certificates for children born abroad or no-impediment-to-marriage certificates, contact the immigration attaché at the mission.
- If a Kenyan is in distress abroad, email diaspora@mfa.go.ke with their details.
Watch out
- There isn't a Kenyan mission in every country. One mission often covers several nearby countries, so check the 'Accreditation' column.
- Foreign Affairs does not issue visas to other countries. Apply at the embassy of the country you want to visit.
- If a recruitment agent took the worker abroad, contact the agent first: they are responsible for repatriation. If they don't cooperate, also contact the National Employment Authority (NEA).
Who can apply
- Kenyans living, working or travelling abroad
