Steps
- Contact the county's Disaster Management and Emergency Response team at City Hall, Kisumu, to book a fire protection inspection of your premises.
- Pay the yearly inspection fee for your premises: KSh 4,000 for commercial or industrial premises and factories, KSh 6,000 for a petrol station.
- Pay through an authorised county channel (direct deposit to the county bank account or the county's electronic paybill) and ask for the official receipt.
Watch out
- The inspection fee is charged per year, so budget for it every year.
- Each fire extinguisher inspected costs KSh 500, and a copy of the inspection report costs KSh 1,000.
- Always demand an official receipt for every payment to the county.
