What you need

  • PLUPA/DC 1A or 1B form (Physical Planning Act form)
  • Architectural building plans
  • Structural building plans

Steps

  1. Fill in the PLUPA/DC 1A or 1B planning form (KSh 500) and attach your architectural and structural plans.
  2. Pay the Physical Planning scrutiny fee: KSh 3,000 ordinary or KSh 5,000 comprehensive.
  3. Pay the plinth-area fees. For a house: KSh 40 per sq.m for the architectural plan, and KSh 20 per sq.m for the structural plan outside Eldoret CBD. Commercial buildings pay KSh 40 per sq.m for each.
  4. Get the plans certified by the Health department. A single non-storey house pays KSh 3,000 in the CBD or townships and KSh 1,000 in the sub-counties.
  5. When the building is finished, get an occupation permit, for example KSh 5,000 for a commercial building in the CBD.

Watch out

  • Building first and seeking approval later costs extra: regularising an unapproved development is KSh 15,000 in the CBD and KSh 10,000 elsewhere.

Who can apply

  • Anyone putting up a residential, commercial, industrial, educational, religious or other building in Uasin Gishu County, including Eldoret.
