Kenya Revenue Authority · sources read 1 Oct 2026
If you disagree with a KRA tax decision, such as an assessment or demand, lodge a notice of objection on iTax within 30 days of being notified, with all your supporting documents.
- Fee
- We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
- Deadline
- Lodge the objection within 30 days of being notified of the decision
- Where
- Online on the KRA iTax portal; documents that can't be uploaded go to a KRA Independent Review of Objections office
What you need
- All the documents that support your objection
Steps
- Log in to iTax and lodge your notice of objection, uploading your supporting documents.
- If a document can't be uploaded, email it to LSBCIROStaff@kra.go.ke or hand it in at a KRA Independent Review of Objections office (Nairobi: 7th Floor, Ushuru Pension Towers, Upper Hill).
- Pay the part of the tax you agree with. Cover the disputed amount with a cash deposit, bank guarantee or bond.
- Still not resolved? Appeal to the Tax Appeals Tribunal, and after that to the High Court.
Watch out
- Your objection only counts as valid if you send all the supporting documents with it.
- Lodge it on iTax. That's where KRA says objections must be served, not by letter.
- You can ask to settle through KRA's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) instead, but only once the undisputed tax is paid.
Who can apply
- Any taxpayer who disputes a KRA tax decision
