Pay land rent (ground rent) on Ardhisasa

Log in to Ardhisasa, open land rent services, search your parcel by title number and pay the due invoice by M-Pesa or at Co-operative Bank. Land rent is the yearly rent on leasehold land paid to the national government, not county rates.

What you need
- An Ardhisasa account (ID number, password and your phone for the OTP)
- The title number of the parcel
Steps
- Log in to Ardhisasa with your Ardhisasa ID or ID number, password and the OTP sent to your phone.
- On the dashboard pick land rent services, click pay land rent and search the parcel by its title number.
- Check the payment history and click pay on the invoice that is due.
- Pay by M-Pesa express (enter your number and your M-Pesa PIN), the M-Pesa paybill, or download the invoice and pay at Co-operative Bank.
- Check that the payment status shows complete. When everything is paid, you can download a land rent clearance certificate.
Watch out
- Land rent is different from county land rates. Rent on leasehold land goes to the national government through Ardhisasa, and it can change after subdivision, change of user or lease extension.
- You cannot transfer leasehold land without a rent clearance, so clear any arrears before you sell.
Who can apply
- Owners of leasehold land. Ground rent is a yearly rent paid to the government on leasehold land.
